Eat, Drink and Be Merry
Most of the traditional events in Tenerife are centred on music, food, drink, colourful costumes and a fantastic party atmosphere. A party is called a “fiesta” and it usually involves homemade food and local wine served from stalls. People will dress up in vibrant traditional costumes and come together to sing and dance.
If you have the chance to book your flights to Tenerife during February or March, you will be able to enjoy the annual Carnival. In the capital city of Santa Cruz, the streets will come alive with parties, dancing, and live music. The “murgas”, which are performing troupes, will sing amusing and satirical songs about politics and current affairs in Tenerife.
Religious Pilgrimages
Another important tradition that you might experience when you arrive on your flights to Tenerife is the “Romerias”. On these special days, the people of the island honour a particular saint by making a pilgrimage. You will see large groups of people walking through the streets dressed in traditional costume, with singers and musicians following along.
There is always a party happening on this beautiful island, so when you book your flights to Tenerife be sure to join in the fun!
